Course Details

Horticulture is an important branch of agriculture. It is an applied science dealing with fruits, vegetables and ornamental flowers. It is an extremely diversified field with nearly unlimited career opportunities in a variety of job settings. It is a vast subject and divided in three major branches-

  1. Floriculture:- It is a branch of Horticulture which deals with the study of growing and marketing of flowers and foliage plants.
  2. Olericulture:- The study of vegetable growing, dealing with the culture of nonwoody plants for food is called as “Olericulture”. Those who perform the activities of vegetable growing are known as “Olericulturist”.
  3. Pomology:- It is the science of growing fruit. Its research mainly focuses on the development, enhancement, cultivation and physiological studies of fruit trees.
